DKFash OnTupac Amuru Shakur ......RIP 3
Felas Kutis music became even more politics basedwhen he went out of Nigeria and started to tour around all of Africa. Even more sowhen he went to America and was introduced toThe Black Panthers. This is when Kuti really experienced the injustice; African/IntegratedAfricans around the world were going through.
It was then HeRealizedNigeria had along way to go| That Black on Black Crime is worse than

A lot like Kuti; in their themes addressed and directapproach; Tupac Amuru Shakurwas a LyricalVocalist/Rapper, Activist, Actor and poet. Often outspoken in the truth of however he felt, at that given moment in time! Also Influenced with the Educational and raw love off the Black Panthers. Shakur being brought up by a former Panther mother who Taught him about the Struggle of the people; never hiding the truth about the injustice; through his music and career we see this In Him.
Tupac was thePossibilityandThe Non.
Tupac was brought up to use thestrugglefor power. His Mother gave him the hope to demand for change; yet the Injustice which the hope spoke out against was still able to effect his mother when she became more involved in drugs.
To see your hero become so weak but to still be able to sayEven as crack feigned Mama, you always was a Black Queen MamaShows the greatness in him and theuniquelight he sees within such acomplex disease of addiction; that quite frankly most of us would not see. His Mother was and is still a Strong influence to the world as she was the influence and the manifestation God used to producesuch a Gift.
For me, Amuru defines the essence of the majority of Ebony people now;

August Wilson is SO|silhouettez by Monique Duchen
August Wilson is so Silhouettez. A self taught playwright who
drew his inspritations from real life situations/experiences and
communicated them to an audience who could easily relate.
His works are still relevant today. Much like the members of Silhouettez In The Dark, Wilson had
experienced living in the most hostile conditions. But Wilson
always overcame challenges by educating himself and
sharing his knowledge through his plays, which proved to be
educational yet entertaining; much like the works created by
Silhouettez In The Dark. Wilson is widely known for his
10play cycle. After his death, August Wilson is the first African-American
to have a Broadway Theatre named after him.
Truely an inspiration.....

25th March
Brixton P.O.S.T. Gallery
Written by Damilola K Fashola
Performed bySilhouettez In the DarkTheatre Company
South East London's new expressive Theatre group Silhouettez in The Dark burst into Brixton's POST Gallery building with a walk in and around production 'The Love Of a Woman'
What happens when the Choir Veteran becomes a Lesbian sinner? Where does she lead her congregation of friends?
You're doing this crap because of love, The drug makes us do crazy things.... Cupids arrow is more like crack ecstasy....
Truth is having erratic homophobic feelings as her best friend Fighter starts to defend the only Lesbian society on the Block; Rumours bound that she's even joined them. Manipulator the town Choir Veteran has entered the society's universe thinking a kidnapping is the only way to get what's hers. The police have been called by Manipulator but is she the Prey, Or the Predator?
Damilola K Fashola; the emerging Writer, Director Choreographer graduated from East 15 foundation course in 2008 and has been producing, directing and writing somewhat controversial and bold Physical Theatre pieces, working alongside her founded group Silhouettez in the Dark. Reflections of a Shadow, her first piece was performed at West-Ends Cockpit Theatre 2008 in Conjunction with Dream Arts. Fashola's play Exposed which explores extracts of her 7 plays yet to be published was performed at Hampstead's Interchange Studios. Fashola is a British born Nigerian writer to keep your eye on.
With no funding or residency the group have maintained a good following and high demands for workshops. Silhouettez In The Dark founded in 08' have toured and performed at various Open Mic events around London and have been requested in various Universities' this year. Their bold and controversial content has put them on the mark for changing Urban stereotypes and raising the bar on the arts.
FasholaStates The Arts has always been like a threshing floor for Silhouettez. The stage has always been aforeground to tackle issues. We are about transforming ideas into a world where anything is expressive. All the audiences have to do is absorb, whether they like I or not is not the main issue though it would be nice! The whole means is toprovokethought!

What Silhouettez Think and Feel!
|
|
Whats meant to be will be!
Not knowing how you feel about someone feels like a pain, an annoying constant thought. You like them, you care for them, even if the feelings not mutual, its just how you feel. You question whether the time is right for a relationship or whether your READY to make a commitment. From prior hurt, and disruption, the thought becomes endless. You start a friendship, you start a bond, not knowing where it will end up, but you enjoy the time and company spent with that person. The more you speak to them, the more your around them more emotions start to build. You kiss you hug but whats the meaning behind it all? Is it for fun on his part or yours? Or do you feel to strongly to find he doesnt feel the same, What then? Do you try and persuade him or do u step back and look at the position your actually in. Or you may step back and observe the situation and whether your READY again, because there may have been a sense of rushed thoughts, feelings and emotions. Stepping back may possibly give them that chance to see whats a potential, or maybe a possibility but WHATS MEANT TO BE WILL BE! A friendship is a stepping stone, a natural flow of energy bouncing off eachother allowing more of a mutual bond. Be there for them in their time of need as you would with a friend, and build a gradual trust level. Dont push to hard until the trust is fully established as trust takes a long time to make and a short time to BREAK. Personal issues may arise but the thought of that potential person giving that support and time shows alot. You ask yourself is it worth it? Do you REALLY want them? Well youd have answered your original question of how you feel about them, if you felt satisfied by just being there for THEM. You do some good because you want to AND not because you feel you need OR have to. Which is why IM STILL HERE FOR YOU!! By Shanice Silhouettez :)
Looking for love..........is the hardest thing, dont no whether you want it or need it or simply cant live without it. Iv been in love once, twice and this love has turned to ice, it was cold and it was hard and i felt i wanted to give up on love. i held up this guard, which made it hard to trust other men, because i didnt want to be hurt again. With this guard, it took away the one thing i needed, and that was the courage to love again. Yes ive met this new guy, and he seems decent and nice, but i dont no whether hes playing or sceaming, or just completely genuine. At first i think its all just a game and then i think i going insane. i ask myself why i cannot find, that path of joy and happiness. But i then remember im left with that guard, which makes it hard to go with the flow. i find it so hard, because i seem to let my feelings show. However im thankful for this gurard, because it allows me to wait and see before rushing into things. And iv realised it actually gives me more courage to love again.
